Grieve what? Death? Learning the truth about the Truth and the subsequent realization you've pissed away a lot of your life? Gotta be a little more specific. Thanks.

A German is trying to to make his way to Paris
At the border, the French customs agent asks him
“Name?”
“Hans Mueller.”
“Place of residence?”
“Munich.”
“Occupation?”
“No, just vacation this time.”
How are peanut butter and jelly related?
They're inbred

Active JW's: If asked, can you explain/defend this belief?
by The Fall Guy inas all jw's and awakened ex-jw's know, the very existence of the religion is dependent on people's belief that the "holy trinity" of the wtbts, the ccojw, and the governing body (aka the organization) were personally selected by god/christ.. 1) mr. rutherford claimed that this divine choosing occurred circa 1919, and that all anointed members were personally chosen by god/christ to be the faithful slave.
2) in 2013 this long-held, "profound scriptural truth" was discarded by apostates in brooklyn (the present-day governing body) when they personally decided that only gb members were chosen by god/christ to be the faithful slave.

Even Rutherford accepted Russell's mantle of being chief provider of spiritual food.
For all my childhood and most of my adulthood, the Governing Body was officially NOT exclusively the Faithful Slave specifically. They taught the Watchtower was simply the legal entity being used by "part" of the full body of anointed who made up a "Faithful Slave" class who spiritually fed their brothers worldwide. The position was important but the Governing body was not supposed to be better than any other anointed ones. Oddly enough, despite this everyone referred to them as THE "Faithful Slave" and most viewed them as such. The concept of a faithful slave composed of thousands of non contributors was absurd and nonsensical. The "New Light" of a Governing Body Faithful Slave actually makes better PR. Still a cult.

These days it not really that hard being a witness.
by I believe in overlapping inif you are a true believer, then you are toast.
because you will be a slave to everything the watchtower, circuit overseers, elders, pioneers, imply.
believe me, there are not many true believers anymore, and the majority of them are old.

It has always been that there are city mice and country mice in the organization. Congregations have personalities, permissive and restrictive. In one they discouraged colored shirts and in another they had no problem with alcohol at weddings. I can see that getting worse as new members adapt their old ways to their new faith. No matter what congregation you are in, if you hide who you are and what you do you may not suffer the consequences. In others all you have to do is be seen with a white pen in your mouth from a distance and end up with a JC for smoking. This happened here! So funny. Morons.

Don't give them 2019
by snare&racket ini am writing the post i have wanted to write for some time.
it's a heartfelt note to those still attending meetings, still caught between the lines of watchtower and the world.
those with kids or a spouse in the society..... despite being mentally out....those who have weighed up that there is too much to lose in leaving.

Points well taken. Please, please, please edit your work. If you are in academia you know that its critical to make it clear. Concise is good too. Better two medium posts than one epic tome. Many will not read it all, too bad. Glad you posted this. Post again leaving us hungry for more.

Safety first. I can imagine the attraction of a moon lit night with some nice girls and a beautiful park. As you know, its the most dangerous animal, human, you must use caution with. Its on the beaten path you are least likely to be beaten. Stick with the light and well patrolled areas otherwise. Stay safe.

1981 quote made my blood boil
by neat blue dog ini just got so angry coming across this quote from the wt, shortly after raymond franz was disfellowshipped:.
one who has been a true christian might renounce the way of the truth, stating that he no longer considers himself to be one of jehovah’s witnesses or wants to be known as one.
when this rare event occurs, the person is renouncing his standing as a christian.

Its as if the fearless leaders, GB, didn't like blue shirts and one of their number started wearing one. They suddenly have new light that blue shirts are hated by God, so they decree expulsion for any blue shirt wearers or blue shirt admirers.
Ray saw the BS and left, though not excoriating his fellow GB. He simply had lunch with his employer who had walked away from the Org and wham-mo! the GB makes it a crime by changing his employer's status to XJW before there was "disassociation". Ray becomes a target for expulsion for having lunch and a talk with his landlord and employer, which is weird because WT left an out of "necessary business" and violated it in this instance. They thought they had cut off the cancer of Ray's knowledge getting out. Wha, la... Crisis of Conscience. Shot themselves in the foot.

Jehovah's Witnesses adhering to a commercialized lying and corrupt false prophet the Watchtower Corporation
by Finkelstein inafter doing some critical research upon the watchtower corporation and its activity as a religious publishing house one can clearly see this is a commercialized false prophet run by sinning apostate men.. so the question remains why are people adhering and supporting this organization thinking they are going to gain salvation come judgment day by jesus ?.
jesus laid out instructions in how to identify false prophets, maybe he should have elaborated and said something about false prophets who would sell his gospel for profit.
this relates to more than the men who ran the wts.

I think the Jesus was selling hope and fantasy. Obviously people have been saying they have raised the dead for centuries without evidence. So the Jesus was a huckster just like his multiple nutty adherents. The WT and others are simply dupes who have learned the only real thing about leveraging the Jesus is money and power over fellow believers.

What JW Beliefs Did You Find Difficult To Explain?
by minimus inthere are a lot.
anything blood related was difficult to reasonably prove from a witness perspective.. 1914 was another one.
what can you add to the list?

I had a person at the door ask me if The Two Witnesses of revelation had happened already. I ran the scenario of the Society's officials being arrested and held until they were released and stood up to witness even more and how they were the two witnesses, then told the householder yes. I swallowed hard and waited. It came, "How?" I said, "let's stick to something we can agree on". I knew it was bullshit and had no way to defend it.
